Here the CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT) has completed preparations to introduce a new tulip garden.
CSIR IHBT scientists have planted more than 40,000 bulbs of colorful tulips in Palampur to promote tulip cultivation and develop it as a tourism spot.
Last year too, the Tulip Garden of Palampur attracted the attention of the whole world. This time too, the new Tulip Garden being developed in 2,000 square meters is ready to fascinate people soon.
Tulip trial going on in India
According to the report of Gaon Connection, the scientist of Floriculture Department of CSIR-IHBT, who developed the tulip garden in Palampur, says that in the year 2017, he had started a trial of tulips outside Kashmir, under which the farmers of Lahaul Spiti were also given colorful flowers. Some tulip bulbs were given. We wanted to know whether these tulips can multiply in the soil-climate there or not.
The efforts of the experts proved successful in 3-4 months and there the tulips started growing well even in the off-season. In view of this trial, we have also planted 40,000 tulip bulbs of different varieties in Palampur. Experts told that while the tulip flowers of Kashmir bloom in April-May, the Tulip Garden of Palampur gets covered with colorful flowers only in February-March.

Tulip gardens are being prepared at these 4 places
Scientist of CSIR-IHBT told that the time of blooming of tulip garden in Kashmir, Palampur, Lahaul Spiti and Leh is different. If you want to enjoy Tulip Garden several times a year, then first of all you can go to Palampur between February-March, where tulip flower bulbs are planted in November. After this, you can visit Srinagar’s Tulip Fest between April and May and Leh or Lahaul Spiti between June and July.
Training will be given to farmers
For information, let us tell you that 80 percent of the world’s tulips are grown in the Netherlands alone and from here it is also exported to the country and the world. If tulip gardens are developed in India as well, then it can become a source of good income and employment for the farmers.
Now farmers are also being given training for commercial cultivation of Tulip flower. These tulip flowers bloom for about 25 days, but experts are promoting it as a cut flower, which increases the number of bulbs. When the flowers stop blooming, its bulb is removed and stored for the next year.
